My name is Hafis Murty and I am in the final year of my degree programme at Taylor’s University. The degree that I am pursuing is Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (Hons). Let me begin by saying that I have always dreamed of becoming an engineer since I was young. The main reason for this is my love of cars. I just find cars absolutely amazing. You can do anything and everything with cars. Be it customization or even restoration. Another factor of my interests in engineering is because my father was a fantastic one before he retired. As you can see, being an engineer runs in my blood. However, as the years go by and with the world of technology ever changing, my focus to be an engineer is not only limited in the automotive field. I have a broader perception of engineering now. Job scopes are increasing causing more knowledge needed to be working at top companies. Among the attributes that I possess, there are a few key ones that will help me fulfil my ambition. Firstly, I never give up. Be it in sports, assignments or even projects, I will always find a solution to solve the challenges that I face. In other words, you can say that I never back down from a fight. Besides that, I believe that I am good at leading people. I am not one to just sit down and keep quiet when I am in a team. I would say that I have an immense desire to win or be first at something. Therefore, I will not let others drag me down. I am not being arrogant or over confident, but I feel that I am able to organize whatever team I am in and divide tasks according to each of my member’s strengths and weaknesses. That being said, I am also a good listener and a humble person. I am willing to take any criticism, advice or comment to improve myself and the work I produce. Besides these attributes, I also possess a few skill sets that are related in the field of engineering gained by studying and working experience with companies such as Secure Guard and Karcher Malaysia. I have been exposed to soldering, repairing ATM cassettes and many more related skill sets. Furthermore, I have been exposed to plant and process management, equipment servicing and plant research and analysis by working with Palm Oleo Sdn. Bhd. Besides that, I have also been exposed to customer service and brand promotion (Retail & Sales) by working with Touch N' Go and AirAsia. With that, I believe that I have the right traits to achieve my dream and ambition of becoming not only an engineer but also a successful one.
